A ******** Experience

We booked this ‘Boutique’ hotel in Helensburgh Scotland through Booking dot com on 11 Feb 2023. We booked a Superior King Room with a size of 18m^2 at this 'Boutique' hotel for 3 nights at £120 / R2 730 per night / £360.24 Total Cost. Coming from Cape Town we rightly expected a decent representation of a 18m^2 Superior King Room at this price per night as advertised and depicted on the Booking dot com site. On arrival, we were allocated Room No. 12 barely 12m^2, which a previous manager of Riva Hotel has confirmed is the very worst room in the entire hotel and definitely NOT a Superior King Room! NOTE: The existing 'management' of this 'room above a pub' establishment was not interested in addressing this insult of a room even though my wife raised the issue 3 times with youngsters at the hotel 'desk'! By our Cape Town hospitality standards, this 'Superior King Room' would definitely not qualify as a Standard 12m^2 Room with a no air con and a standard double bed! The advertising and selling of this room no. 12 through Booking.com is ******** and blatant theft from weary foreign travellers too tired to take this matter further with Riva Hotel or Booking dot com. The partnership of Booking dot com with this hotel and their false advertising has a very evident HISTORY, this is not the first time they have been informed of this SUBSTANDARD hotel service sold at premium prices. PLEASE give this business a WIDE berth and put a stop to this ******* business practise.
