Not so comprehensive motor insurance cover

On Saturday 15th of April while travelling the M5 in Gauteng to Krugersdorp I was unfortunate in two ways one of which was being insured by Risk Guard alliance. I drove into a large porthole that shattered the rim of my BMW. It is known that these vehicles do not have spare wheels so it had to be towed. Risk Guard Alliance towed the line in this respect and towed my car to a tyre place. Which was great. I was quite confident i could put in a claim for the damage to my vehicle. The fine print on the safe guard policy states the rims are not covered by insurance as they are not deemed part of the car. The cost of replacing the rim is R7000 and i have to replace a broken shock absorver at 6000 all due to this mishap. The insurance compay Risk Guard Alliance will not get involved. It would have been useful if they had mentioned this to me when i signed teh policy. If you are insured with this company dont be caught unaware. I have heard other insurance companies cover the rims of the car. An example of this is Alexander Forbes,. If you are with Risk Guard dont pay for extra cover, rather switch insurance companies.
