Damage to car windscreen

On the 3 October 2022 at 14h30 I was driving on the M1 highway south heading towards Smith Street, Johannesburg. When driving under the Wits University pedestrian Bridge, I noted tiny sparks fall onto my driver's side windscreen. I pulled along side the road and inspected windscreen, the sparks caused welding spatter damage.

I immediately took the next off ramp and proceeded back to the bridge where I noted construction taking place above. I then proceeded into wits University to gain access to the bridge where I found the Company Rigid steel doing welding work on the edge of the bridge. I reported it to Manager Nico Nagel who inspectedy windscreen and acknowledged responsibility & that they will sort out. The next day I called him and he referred me to Hendrink Janse. I called Janse who had an attitude & asked me if I had a dash cam. He accused me that my windscreen was damaged and that I seen them working and want to now claim. I informed him that when I drive on the road, I look straight ahead and not in the sky at bridges. I also told him when it happened I immediately went back and found his workers welding. He refuse to acknowledge and re imburse me on damages. This is very unfair as it was their fault. Please don't deal with this company.
