Vehicle with no documentation sold

<p>On the 4th of April Shaun from Right cars sold me a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 petrol. Just 3 months later I attempted to trade the vehicle in for a more economic vehicle and it was brought to my attention that the vehicles paperwork was highly incorrect. Reports from Jeep and trans union both confirmed that the vehicle vin and engin number belonged to a 2008 Jeep Unlimited 2.8 diesel automatic.</p> <p> </p> <p>upon inspection it was confirmed that the vin numbers shown in various spots on the vehicle were tampered with , usually on a Jeep it is ingraved on a plate that is bolted to the vehicle, on the jeep that was sold to me it is just a white sticker that replaced the plates. </p> <p> </p> <p>On the 7th of July I made the salesman and manager aware of the problem and was told that they would have to speak with the previous owner first, there is nothing that can be done. When calling another 4/5 times I was asked to bring the vehicle back to the dealership. </p> <p> </p> <p>The dealership could not do anything with the paperwork and then advised that they would have to value the car and offer me what would be offered as a trade in at R75000.00. This is 25k less than what I originally paid for the vehicle and is 15k less that what I was to trade it in for on a new vehicle. </p> <p> </p> <p>I was unable to accept the offer and put of fear of being arrested for driving a vehicle that is unregistered and having it impounded I had to leave the vehicle with the dealership. The vehicle keys were taken by Shaun the salesman.</p> <p> </p> <p>Mark the manager of the Johannesburg branch advised that he would have to speak to the owner of the company who is on holiday before he could do anything. </p> <p> </p> <p>The CPA states that the dealership has to repair replace or refund me as I cannot use the vehicle was it was intended for. But the dealership has no regard for the act and have little intention of refunding me a reasonable amount. </p> <p> </p> <p>I am now now without a vehicle and have no options until the dealership gives me my money back.</p>
