Appalled with Rietondale Lodge
We decided to stay over at Rietondale Lodge in Pretoria on 02/11/2019 after a function at the adjoining restaurant. We had to leave early (about 06:30) the following morning and could not find anyone at reception. I ask the cleaning staff about when someone will be manning reception again and they told me only at 07:00, so I left a note with my name and telephone number, together with the room key on the desk at reception, stating that I had to check out early. I had just arrived home when a certain Liezl, from Rietondale Lodge, called me at 07:25, confirmed who I am and asked me, in an unpleasant tone, if I was staying in room 1, which I confirmed. She stated that she did not authorise the stay and that I haven’t paid for the room. She also asked where I got the key from. I rep**** that I was handed the key by the restaurant owner late the previous evening and that I wanted to settle the amount for the room, but could not wait for the reception staff to arrive at 07:00, hence the reason for the note with my number in order to arrange for electronic payment. She rep**** in an extremely rude manner that the restaurant owner is not the owner of the lodge. Her tone caused me to totally lose my temper and I asked her what she wanted me to do - she again stated that she did not authorised the stay, where after I asked her to send me the bank detail and amount to be settled. The way she handled the matter made me feel like a ********. This person is rude and one would expect more professionalism, especially in the Hospitality Industry. This has been a huge disappointment and I expect an apology from this establishment.
