Rico Trailers - Horrible Experience

Paid almost R140k for a trailer that didn’t come with a gas C.o.C. Have requested it numerous times but have been ignored. Subsequently find out from a qualified installer that that installation violates a number of codes and I now have to spend over R10k to get it complaint! Be careful with what you end up getting here.

My roof also leaks. Have taken it in to be repaired by Rico Trailers, but the problem returned in another part of the ceiling.

Very disappointed with the attitude shown post sale because Rion doesn’t reply to mails or messages. I am not the expert in this field. When I buy a unit from a manufacturer, it is both reasonable and fair to expect that the product I’m receiving will be in accordance with the regulations and codes pertaining to the product in question.

Just a few of the issues with the gas installation:

1. No shut off valve on the exterior of the unit. 2. Gas pipes are not properly cased in appropriate sleeves. 3. None of the gas appliances have any information or details on them, so it is impossible to ascertain if they are according to code requirements. 4. Double gas fryer appears to have been modified and wiring is housed in the incorrect position. 5. I was informed that extraction is an optional extra, not a requirement in order to get a CoC. 6. Fire extinguishers provided are inadequate and less than the prescribed size for a food trailer. 7. No gas cage was provided for the gas cylinder, a legal requirement. 8. No signage was provided inside or outside the trailer, also requirements for a CoC.

In addition to this, the appliances are affixed to tables in the unit in such a way that they can’t be removed in order to clean and sterilize around the equipment. This has become a huge hygiene risk.

Furthermore, the table on which the 3 appliances stand does not have adequate support, and the table has started to sag as a result!

All in all, a very dissatisfying experience. The trailer was bought in 2019, brand new, and has only recently started working consistently due to Covid restrictions, but now that we’re trying to get into high profile events, the problems that we weren’t aware of, have arisen.
