Not paying back deposit.

Richter Realty cc required a deposit amount equal to the rent that we paid to them trusting them to keep our money safe. We were not given a receipt and received no proof that our money was put in an interest bearing account. When we moved out and asked for our deposit back this agency simply said that they paid the deposit over to the landlord and that they cannot do anything about it.
