Misrepresented advertising and appalling craftsmanship - STAY AWAY!!

<p>We have bought an outdoor table and benches from a one-man business in Heidelberg, named Richlo Outdoor Living.</p> <p>https://www.outdoorfurniture4u.com/contact</p> <p> </p> <p>We paid R 17 799 for the set, including delivery.</p> <p>The set was delivered and paid for in full. The assembly took place at our house in St Lucia Kwa Zulu Natal.<br />The workmanship of the seller is APPALLING to say the very least.</p> <p> </p> <p>We only looked at the set in detail after the owner, Mr Imerich left on the Sunday of the delivery and found the following major problems with the set, which we informed him about promptly:</p> <p>1) The one side of the set was clearly longer than the other side (benches) so that he had to fix an extra piece of wood on the one side to make the side-supports fit. This looks ugly.</p> <p>2) he craftsmanship is very bad overall and the table has been really badly manufactured, with pieces of s**** wood at the bottom of the tabletop. (see photos)</p> <p>3) He had the wrong tools when he installed the set and he damaged the wood terribly whist trying to attach the side supports. So much so that he had to turn the planks around and use the other side fort he outside. I lenat him my tools, which he broke subsequently, without refunding me for it.</p> <p>4) The size of the table paid for was 3m x 1m with 2 benches of the same length. (3m). When I measured the set, the table was only 2.83m, the one bench 2.77m and the other bench 2.79m I requested the owner to refund me R1000 for this discrepancy, although I indicated that even R1 000 would not help that much, as I now have a table that is too short, for the rest of my life. He agreed to this, but numerous requests for him to pay since then has fallen on deaf ears.</p> <p>We then subsequently saw new problems arising as time went on:</p> <p>1) The two benches were not attached to the set at the same distance from the table. The one has a space of 20cm (which was the agreed distance). The other is 13cm away. The problem with this is that one cannot get into the space between the table and the bench properly!</p> <p>2) The entire table and benches are now starting to curl up and split and it makes the table useless.We found that the owner has used incorrect *****s and even haven't attached some of the planks to the bottom support strips, which causes this problem. We have oiled the table as instructed, but no amount of oil will stop the wood from curling up if it has not been cured properly beforehand and fastened in the correct way.</p> <p>I notified the owner of these issues and said he must pay our money back, by the end of that week, and come and collect his table, but nothing came of this.</p> <p>The furniture is of very bad, substandard craftsmanship and it now looks appalling/disgusting! It is not worth even half of the nearly R18k we paid for it and we do not want this at all.</p> <p>I ask that the purchase price including delivery cost be repaid IN FULL and the set be removed.</p>
