Ribbens Office National R1 ****

Ribbens Office National has been running a radio ad for weeks in the Cape, advertising their Spring sale - 30% off all items and one item per customer at R1 per item (including electronics). In all the weeks there was absolutely no mention made of a limit on the number of R1 items; e.g. 'only available to the first (however many) customers'. There was a clear expectation that anyone who went there today could buy stuff at 30% and one item for R1. This morning at 04h10, we were at the store. There was already a line (even though curfew only ended at 04h00) and we were given the numbers 72, 73 and 74. Not too bad, we thought. Sat in the cold and dark until 08h00 when the store opened. What an utter waste of time! There was perhaps 10 items available at R1, if that. The very first few people could buy these and then the poor embarrassed staff members had to explain to the rest that there was nothing left. And their embarrassment was plainly visible. I really felt sorry for them. At the very least, this should have been made clear in the adverti*****t. It is no use saying 'limited numbers' (as on their Facebook page) - this could mean anything from 1 to 1000. Of course one understands that they cannot have thousands of items available for R1, but then make it quite clear that only the first 10 or 20 or 50 people would be eligible. Do not make your adverti*****t sound as if this is available to all comers and then pull a fast one like that. This is false advertising.
