RFT Projects / Ricardo Ferreira Warning on this Contractor

The objective of this review is to make the public aware of the serious challenges we encountered and continue to face with builder RFT Projects, owner Ricardo Ferreira.

Background: RFT Projects was contracted to do our house renovations that involved major building requirements, this is for the context of the issues we face in a large renovation exercise. RFT/Ricardo is an active builder in the JHB South area. This review will highlight some of the bigger issues currently, while building and is not conclusive. We would also state that the general building quality we were satisfied with and Ricardo’s experience as well.

Information on this review is factual and can be supported with documentation, it is also supported by our personal opinion. We have included the Owner Ricardo Ferreira’s name as we do not have the official companies registration details.

Current: we have now exhausted all attempts to get RFT Projects / Ricardo Ferreira to action outstanding items or engage with us the client. We have called/messaged/email numerus times with no success as we wanted to sort this out amicably. • Complaint to NHBRC/MBA for assistance: “RFT Projects is not registered”, we requested again from Ricardo numerous times to provide his business registration/name – no info. • Warranty Contract not honoured. The signed agreement we have, clearly states that RFT warranties covers to the building standards of SA. We have requested since 1 August 2024 come review and rectify the first 2 serious issues, to date no action. So, our warranty is worthless ands this then means all related work done. • COC’s: We did not receive the relevant compliance certification from RFT post renovations, we followed up since 28th August 2024 and to date after numerous further requests, no relevant communication at all (besides an excuse to not make the meeting and will deliver the COC’s the next week – nothing to date) . • General: We are now facing other important items outstanding or incorrectly actioned through the building phase, this is now also not been supported in any way. • Communication with the client: Communication is basically not existent, literally Ricardo does not return calls/messages/emails. We have given him so many opportunities, including trying to engage on the items above and others a month ago and he eventually took our call and promised to come see us, empty commitment – nothing again! When we agreed to go with RFT Projects / owner Ricardo Ferreira had a good pitch by the company on all the work they have done in JHB South etc, but what we have experienced through the renovations period and now the current status, it really has been and is a draining emotional roller coaster drive, for a contractor to literally ignore you for months, is really unacceptable! To note we always paid on time, been super flexible and even under circumstances that we could have taken a more formal stance.

Again, this review is to provide our bad experience which overrides the good work done, of course the public needs to make their own educated decision. We informed Ricardo numerous times we are going to post a review on the relevant platforms, again no response.
