Don't read a book by its cover!

No only did the company incorrectly quote me on cost and workdays (promised 7, got my car 50 days later) required, but when I got my car back, it smelt of a cat urine, could not rev over 4000, its battery was completely damaged (no charge when I got home) and it had lost its "auto open/close" feature to its electric windows.

None of the parts replaced were supp**** save one, when I asked, the original parts were apparently in their JHB workshop (I booked it in Boksburg) and so they could not provide them at all unless delivered at a later stage.

I still do not have my car, a list of precisely what was worked on or any sort of promise for recourse.

Hello Dennis, I think its time for another conversation - its now 22 Feb, although I will admit the team have addressed the battery issue for me (which took over a week), and finally arranged for rental car (on the Thursday before they delivered the vehicle again). Then, they then delivered the car a week ago with broken vender badges, absolutely no fuel, lose covers and some sort of heat-shield on the back of my car; understanding this is not acceptable, your client service apologised and collected the car again to have these NEW issues resolved. Another week later (today) it is delivered AGAIN with problems I have flagged before; it does not rev correctly, it has broken badges and now I am not even sure that the loose parts from the last delivery were even replaced rather than just chucked away. I have lost all faith in the company's ability to quality control their work, their escalation clauses and prioritizing of client complaints.

Good afternoon Mr Weitz

Once again, I wish to express my regret that you remain dissatisfied.

The fact that your vehicles battery failed * certainly contributed to a number of the issues of concern raised in your initial post on Hellopeter.com. We are certain that the battery * was originally faulty when the car was first brought in to us and of course as I mentioned when we discussed the matter on the 8th February, the fact your car was inactive for a while certainly contributed to its * complete failure. You will recall that in the conversation that we had, I expressed my regret and undertook to investigate and correct the areas of concern. These were all addressed over the next two weeks

I think that at this juncture we should note for the record that at no stage have we reneged on our responsibility to ensure that the work performed by us is correct.

Allow me to comment on the items raised in your latest post.

·         The fender badge was not broken by us. We believe the black ‘insert’ in the badge may have been dislodged whilst the car was being washed? We have undertaken to replace this badge and as these badges are only available in a set, we will replace both.
·         The car was returned to you with a ¾ tank of fuel, so we do not understand how it had absolutely no fuel?
·         Insofar as the engine revs are concerned, we did not work on any engine component and I understand that you acknowledged that there was a ‘problem’ with the engine when you originally purchased the vehicle.
·         The covers you refer to have been secured
·         As a gesture of goodwill we provided you with alternate transport in the form of a rental so as to minimise your inconvenience
·         Your vehicle was returned to you today (Friday the 21st February 2019) on a low bed truck and you then noted a number of other issues still of concern.
·         We requested you to allow us to collect the vehicle so that we could attend to these latest concerns and you denied us that opportunity, saying that we can collect it on Monday the 24th February 2019, whilst you retain the use of the rental
·         It is also regretted that you have ‘lost faith’ in our ability to resolve issues.
·         We confirm that your vehicle will be collected on Monday morning and the latest items of concern will be attended to.

Please be assured of our commitment to repair the items that are of concern and for which we are responsible
Regards
Dennis McLachlan

Hello Dennis, Please understand that I know that mistakes happen, we all human - but its beyond frustrating when snag lists remain unaddressed in its entirety. Next I want to thank you for addressing the battery fix and arranging the rental for me, this really allows me to continue life as we fix this mess. Okay, I will try respond to your points in the same order: 1. Lets just agree that you replaced the battery as any reasonable person would agree that a car sitting for the time mind was would/could suffer the failures mine experienced. 2. You mentioned that the issues I raised with you were addressed, although I will agree that many of them were attended to, the revving issue has not attended to at all, and in the delivery for the 15th, it was delivered with absolutely no fuel in it, odd covers and carpets on the back seat and it had a broken vendor badge. So no, you did not attend to all the issues raised unfortunately. 3. I concur, you and your team are being very understanding of the issues have remained professional in contact with me, but please understand that the goal here is to get the car back as it was provided, well with a gearbox that no longer leaks, and for us to be going round in circles like this is frustrating for me, I can only feel the same is true for you since this is not only 2 useless trips from the driver and the truck, losing time with your staff and you now incurring rental costs for the car you supplied me with. 4. Please just check that you are being provided with timelines, because you are right that my car arrived with fuel, but that was only now on Friday 22 Feb was it provided with R300; sufficient for my purposes of getting the car home, etc; but for the delivery on the 15th, it had nothing. 5. The vendor badge, this is something that was broken while in your care, I really do not care when or who or how other may be involved in the processes and payments on your side. You are my supplier and you are the people I will hold accountable for its replacement, if you need to take the issue up within your side, sir, that is entirely your choice. 6. I believe you are mistaken about the working on engine parts as your team assisted in replacing a throttle (something, excuse my lack of tech knowledge) after stating that the car was being tested but was unable to rev (this was around Jan I believe). Your team provide me with a OBD report that listed quite a few issues with the vehicle after it had been with you; within the list, I complained as the faults flagged were all new; the only one I was aware of was a "O2 runner sensor" (again excuse my tech knowledge); I have had that error checked by no less than 3 other mechanics since owning the car, all of them stating its not something that could cause any sort of failure or damage... So I am very confident that the new faults and revving issue is 100% as a result of car being worked on at RDG, 7. Yes, I will have to trust that your guys replaced the covers as I do not know where they came from but will agree they were no longer on my back seat. 8. THANK-YOU for the rental car, it really has enabled me to put less time-pressure on corrections here since its expense now sits with you. 9. I have not raised a single new issue around the vehicle, but did ask (out of interest) why the old casing of the gearbox has a massive hole (about the size of my fist) punched through it - Dennis, when I tell you that the issue was no more than a tiny drop per x seconds, to the point where your technicians told me I could drive safely with this leak for about a month before there might be an issue (when I came through for the initial quotes in Nov '18), was horrified to see it provided back to me as if it was hit by the same iceberg as the Titanic? 10. The collection of the vehicle was never denied either; our offices close early on a Friday and I explained that there would be no-one there to assist and, for safety sake, I had retained the keys. Please also know that, perhaps for a surprise to me (goodwill), I was never told about the delivery being on Friday, I had a meeting that would keep me from the office, I was in no way able to receive the vehicle and had no time to make plans around it being kept available; there was never a denial to collect at any point. I will however admit that I denied the request for me to drive the vehicle to your offices, with the issue it has, I am not going to touch it again until its resolved by RDG. Dennis, I respect the efforts yourself and your client service staff are doing, I really just hope for your sake your support and tech guys can put the same into this. I look forward to a speed resolve; please ensure that my contact person arranges with me dates and plans as otherwise its tough to help
