Retreat Day hospital- Pathetic- No preference given to the aged -86 year old spent 8 hours at the facility

On Tuesday 08March; i accompanied my 86 year old mother to Retreat day hospital. For the last 6 months her medication was delivered to her doorstep but last month she was advised that she needed to visit the facility for a check up. We arrived at the day hospital at 7h00 and was greeted by a very very long que. We stood in the q for a while and after much waiting i went to ask the security if my mother could enter the facility as she could no longer stand.. ( She was diagnosed some time back with heart and kidney failure, shes diabetic and very unstable on her legs ).I was advised that there was no preferences for seniors as the other patients complains about it. After some time, we entered the facility and what a horrific experience.. i felt like i was a postman, running from pillar to post to get files and docs for my mom... at every station, after waiting for quite some time, i would ask the staff if there was no preferences given to seniors... all of them said that there was not... In the one waiting area, the chronic side, the poor people even had to take their own blood pressure before seeing the doctor... one of the patients actually got up and helped the frail old patients as they were non the wiser..... Retreat Day hospital is a horrific place to visit and i dread to think of the consequences had i not attended with my mother... We eventually left the facility at 14h45 , Very despondent, disillusioned and very tired...
