Thumbs down to Bryanston Renault!

Here’s the thing:

My Renault Clio Mark II requires a new Crankshaft Position Sensor.

I priced the unit from Bryanston Renault (13.10.2020) and was quoted R1478 for the part and informed the part would need to be ordered from Renault SA and may take up to two weeks.

I also asked Bryanston Renault for a quote (13.10.2020) to install the unit in the car and was told, telephonically, this would cost R1995. Thus making a grand total of R3433.

I then sourced an after-market part with a six-month guarantee at R249 plus R89 for delivery.

I then contacted our local RMI Registered workshop and was quoted 1 hours labour at R550. Thus making a grand total of R888, i.e. less than 26% of the cost quoted by Bryanston Renault!

Realising that the after-market supplier, the courier and the RMI Registered workshop are all making their desired mark-up …. it leaves one questioning the huge mark-up by Bryanston Renault.

Is Bryanston Renault ethical in their costing and charges? Are they exploiting their Customers? Do they have - a huge feeding chain along the supply line all exploiting us the consumer? Do they live up to their credo of "Renault. Passion for Life"?

My real question: Why would anyone go to the “Dealer” after their Motor Plan has expired to be dealt such a rotten "deal"?

Thumbs down to Renault SA and Bryanston Renault!
