Renault Bryanston customer experience (TCF)
I bought a used Renault capture under finance for over 60k milage which i collected from Renault Bryanston 27 April 2024 , the sales man who gave me a car spec was very friendly and sounded transparent which i became comfortable & interested in the car , drove for 2 months and i could feel the vibrate when the car takes off which i called him & he said when the turbo kicks in it turns to do that , i was uncomfortable as this was inconsistent , however i drove as i know nothing about how the turbo works - car was due for service on the 15th of September but i booked it early for service before due time on the 21 of August as i was hoping the cause of the problem would because it almost due for service , i informed the sales man on the day that he must please get it checked for that issue .... i later collected the car which i'm still under service warranty & he told me they checked & didn’t find anything wrong I just need to take it for a wheel alignment.
a week after the service 5th of September the vibration became a little aggressive which i reported to the sales man & he booked it in for the next day the 6th and i was told there's a diagnose fee of over R1500 which the dealer will cover as i'm still under a 6 months warranty and have driven a car for less than 3000k , and later received a call that the issues on the car is the clutch , it has worn out and i am liable for R18600 if they fix it & unfortunately the dealer wont assist as the clutch has no guarantee.
i drove a manual car for over 7 years before never had a clutch problem and i am told when they handed the car to me the clutch was in a good condition , i was asking questions and lady who quoted me referred me to a sales manager by name of Terrence Govender who told me he needed to investigate , he then came back after a few days of running after him and said if i had reported the car in 2 weeks or 2 months of receiving it or reported it on the day it came for service they would have helped however i was too late also if they could trace that i did report this to the sales man they would assist however there's nothing on record of that conversation taking place , i sat there confused by these time frames and he couldn't explain the difference between the time frames he's giving me and the 6 months warranty which i'm still under ,he wasn't able to tell me what the policy of the business is in terms of these time frames using basically his own discretion , said they did a car spec before i received the car and the clutch was in a good condition , i then asked what a good condition is, is there a document he can refer me to compare the condition of the clutch when they did the spec and now , he then said no one can tell you the condition of the Clutch as no one can see it , so i then asked if I’m right by saying when he gave me the car he couldn't have known the condition of the clutch based of what he was telling me, he then raised his voice telling me unfortunately they can't assist me & ignored my email when I asked for a proof of the things we discussed.
i've since left the car by the dealer and no one cares no courtesy whatsoever, have been put through so much emotionally , i can't explain the pain of using public transport when a car instalment is going of my account for a car i'm not using and which i'm still supposed to be celebrating as new , i later filed a complaint with the financing company in September 12 - Complaint reference//CRSE44CF//***, who then intervened and Terrence responded to them that out of a good will he will assist the customer with a portion of the price and labor, waited for him for a week to find out about the portion amount kept on telling the area manager by the financing company that he is still trying to get the prices for the parts which was confusing to me as to how i was quoted the 18600 if it takes this long to get the prices , when he finally came back he said they can assist with paying R6000 of the quoted amount - i told them i no longer want the car as i'm still under the 6 month warranty & wasn’t treated fairly , i sent Terrence a text he responded and as soon as he realized it was me he then ignored me ..
Should you be planning to buy a Renault brand out there , just bear in mind that their Clutch in a good condition lasts for only 4 months and this estimation is not for a new driver , so if you do consider a Renault car just make sure you also have the R20000 budget set for a clutch every 4 months as this is how longer their good clutch lasts for - also if you decide to use the branch in Bryanston when having problems please note you might have to deal with Terrence Govender who has no care for customers after a sale , no transparency , no business policy to follow , just uses his own discretion when dealing with customers and their cases and changes his stories every time to dismiss you , I’ve never in my life dealt with someone this unprofessional and inconsiderate what a traumatic experience
