Complaint regarding excessive water charges and inadequate response – Rent Net Springs

I am extremely unhappy with the way my water billing concerns have been handled by Rent Net Springs. There are only two people living at the property, and yet we are consistently being charged over R1,000 per month for water usage. During the day, we are generally not even at home, so I find these charges extremely high and would like a proper explanation of how they are being calculated. I raised my concern with the rental agent and received the following response: "Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do with the water bill. The kilolitres that you use are calculated by the sub-meter and the tariff depends on the Ekurhuleni main meter. I understand that you are two people and during the day you are not there." This response is not satisfactory. Simply telling me that the bill is based on a sub-meter and that the tariff depends on the Ekurhuleni main meter does not explain why our actual consumption is so high or whether the sub-meter readings and calculations are accurate. As the tenant, I expect to receive a clear breakdown showing: The actual sub-meter readings used. The previous and current readings. The number of kilolitres charged. The tariff app****. How the final amount of over R1,000 was calculated. I am not refusing to pay for water that we genuinely use. My concern is that the amount being charged appears unreasonably high for two people, and when I question it, I am simply told that nothing can be done. I would like Rent Net Springs to properly investigate the water meter readings and billing calculation and provide a transparent explanation rather than dismissing the concern. At this stage, I am very disappointed with the response and the lack of willingness to investigate the matter.
