I recently had a very bad experience with Rentalcars.com and I would like to warn others not to be ****** in the same way. When hiring a car online via Rentalcars.com, they purposely do not disclose the deposit required before payment so they can ***** your money with their terms and conditions. Only the hire amount is provided and requested to be paid and once payment is made, then only do they disclose the deposit amount required at pick-up. In my case I needed to hire a passenger vehicle for one day which was charged at R1, 279.16, however after payment was made the deposit required at pickup was at R32 000 which I realised I cannot afford of which I immediately cancelled the transaction. However, since I already accepted the terms and conditions as this is compulsory to accept to be able to continue with the transaction, I was informed that a refund is not due to me as the cancellation was not within 48 hours. On my first enquiry in this regard I was told that a refund is not due to me as I never picked up the car as arranged even though the transaction was cancelled and confirmed as cancelled. Even after pleading and confirming the reasons as to why the car was not collected as I could not afford the deposit, it was just indicated that they are sorry for the inconvenience of taking my money without rendering any service. Think twice before you consider using the service of Rentalcars.com...you might end up loosing money instead of hiring a car!!!
