I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from the Western Cape Rental Housing Tribunal. I lodged my rental dispute on 11 June 2026, and despite the time that has passed, I have not been contacted by an investigator or Case Officer to provide me with a clear update or explain the way forward. I was previously advised that my matter would proceed to a hearing and was given the contact details of an official who was supposed to assist me. Unfortunately, my calls were not answered, and my follow-up email was also not responded to. What is particularly frustrating is that I have had to repeatedly follow up myself just to obtain basic information about the progress of my own case. The unresolved matter is also affecting me financially. My previous rental deposit remains outstanding, while my new landlord is requiring me to pay another deposit. With no clear progress or timeframe from the Tribunal, I do not know when I will receive my money or when this matter will be resolved. I understand that government institutions may deal with a high volume of cases, but communication and keeping complainants informed should still be a basic standard of service. I am requesting urgent intervention and clarity on the status of my case. I simply want my matter to be treated fairly, professionally and with the urgency it deserves.

Absolute waste of your time. They actually don't even deserve the one star ! Do not think that the rental tribunal is an option if you are in a dispute, you will be better off going to a lawyer. I consulted the rental Tribunal with regards to a landlord harassment and invasion of privacy as she installed cameras in my living space. The rental tribunal did not bother to respond at all to my desperate emails or complaints. I have moved out of the department and had to consult a lawyer in the end. It is now 5 months afterwards, and I am still waiting on the rental tribunal in the western cape. Pathetic Service. They Should not be recommended at all!
