Bad rental experience
It has been horrible living here, I'm an international renter, 1st time living in SA, and never in my life out of all 7 countries that I have lived in have I ever dealt with the ********** activity that takes place with Renprop employees.
Upon the 1st day of moving in, I noticed there was a clog in the shower which caused water to leak out from the shower onto the floor, I recorded this and reported it to my rental agent the 2nd day after moving into the apartment as well as sending several more videos and messages throughout the week as this issue became progressively worse, a week later Renprop maintenance was sent out to unclog the drain(Pictures included). During the next month, I received my 1st ivy statement that showed a charge for a "Boiler Fee" for 291.06 I called the person listed on the statement Lynnette-Vermaak /Ley and asked what this fee was as this was NEVER mentioned to me before signing the lease. Lynnette-Vermaak/Ley was extremely insolent, I'll manner, and shockingly audacious and just repeated that it's a fee for the boiler. Still confused I asked a few neighbors who had no clue what a "Boiler Fee" was. A few days after this call, Lynnette Vermaak Ley sent me an invoice for a clogged drain for 750.50 I rep**** back to the email and informed Lynnette Vermaak that the clog was present before I occupied the apartment.
I also noticed on the Ivy statement that there was a charge for the gas, upon moving in the gas was not working and maintenance was called back out two weeks later to fix the issue. For two months the gas was never used as I was traveling and never cooked anything. I reached out to Lynnette Vermaak Ley and asked if I could get the gas bill and water bill sent directly to me from the gas and water company, as Lynnette Ley puts the gas and water charges on the ivy statement with no breakdown as to how these bills are calculated and/or being charged. She blatantly told me no the bills are sent to the corporate body.
I then reached out to the water and gas company to get more information on how they calculate these charges after comparing what the gas and water company told me I show that I'm being overcharged for both water and gas. ( which now makes sense as to why I got a gas bill with no gas usage),Please keep in mind this whole situation was over a span of a month and/or more as several of my emails were ignored until I included the gas and water company in the email. After including the gas and water company in the emails asking why I was not able to receive the bills directly from the gas and water companies Lynnette Ley included the breakdown on the statement but it still made no sense the charges she was charging me.
On the 3rd month's statement long and behold Lynnette-Vermaak/Ley re-added the maintenance bill from the clogged shower drain that was removed 3 months ago, I then reached out to her and let her know again that the clog was present before I moved in, but no response. It makes no sense, if you look at the picture I included how can a person clog the drain in a matter of a 7 min shower on the 1st day of moving in? On top of all of this Lynnette-Vermaak /Ley sends me a demand letter on rent that has already been paid and made up an excuse saying I needed to include "The" in the reference because she was unable to find my payment. Every month its something new or an issue or a problem with Lynnette Vermaak Ley. I've specifically asked her supervisor to no longer deal with her in any capacity, as she is harassing me for no reason!
At this point I have had enough of the ********** water and gas bills Lynnette Vermaak/Ley is sending me on top of her trying to ***** money from me for a clogged drain that was present before me moving in. I've also contacted the owners of Renprop and Lynnette Vermaak Ley boss/supervisor on top of the water company and gas company as well as the US embassy as I do not feel safe with all the ********** activity that is taking place with Renprop employee Lynnette-Vermaak/Ley.
