Unacceptable Repair Quality – Hyundai i20, Renew-It Rivonia
I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the repairs performed on my Hyundai i20 by Renew-It Rivonia through Budget Insurance.
My concerns are not based on unrealistic expectations or minor cosmetic preferences. I have professional experience in the automotive manufacturing environment as an Operations Planner and have worked with manufacturing programmes. I currently work in the military manufacturing sector. I therefore understand manufacturing processes, dimensional control, assembly standards, workmanship, tolerances and quality-control requirements.
After collecting my vehicle, I identified multiple defects, including:
* Poor bonnet and headlight alignment and inconsistent panel gaps. * Poor front bumper alignment and fitment. * Paint defects including **pinholes, paint sagging, contamination and uneven finishing**. * Paint adhesion failure on the front bumper, with underlying material exposed. * A fuel filler flap that does not sit flush or latch correctly. * Paint scuffing around the rear wheel arch. * Paint sagging and contamination on the rear passenger door. * Distortion and wrinkling on the rear bumper diffuser. * A bulging/warped section on the rear bumper. * Rear parking sensors that appear recessed, tilted and incorrectly seated. * An active Check brake light warning on the instrument cluster, with the brake lights not functioning.
These are not isolated cosmetic issues. The defects cover body alignment, paintwork, component fitment, bumper assembly, parking sensors and electrical functionality.
My biggest concern is how these issues passed the repair centre's final quality inspection before the vehicle was released to me.
I was also concerned by the communication around the repair timeline. I was initially scheduled to collect the vehicle on 21 August 2026 and ultimately collected it on 22 August 2026. However, communication regarding my vehicle and the repair process had already started on 14 July 2026. Therefore, I do not accept the explanation that the vehicle was simply still within its original lead time at the point of collection.
A repair centre should not release a vehicle to a customer with obvious defects affecting its fitment, finish and functionality, particularly an active warning relating to the brake lights.
I have formally raised these concerns with Renew-It Rivonia and requested a comprehensive post-repair quality inspection and corrective repair, rather than simply addressing individual defects as they are pointed out.
I am posting this review to document my experience and to highlight the importance of proper quality control and final inspection when vehicles are repaired.
I expect Renew-It Rivonia and Budget Insurance to take accountability for the quality of the repair and ensure that my vehicle is returned in a condition consistent with a properly completed professional repair — not merely a vehicle that is technically driveable.
