Disappointed Female car owner
As a 30year old female who drives, I made a big decision to purchase myself a brand new vehicle. Bearing in mind I was driving a Tazz which gave me constant problems, and this was the main reason I needed a new vehicle.
Went through the process, salesman was great. He advised that if I have any issues with the car to reach out to him on WhatsApp. He fetched me on the 16 July 2021 to collect my car and I was extremely happy. The 20th July while driving I heard a screeching sound, I was a bit concerned but paid no mind as this was a brand new vehicle. The sound then became worse and on the 23rd July I left a funeral to check this out at Renault Tokai.
Only to find out there was a manufacturing problem. My car was booked in for the Monday and this was fixed but no valid reason for this. Two months later my petrol gauge was not moving when putting in petrol, went to Renault Tokai and was told that when I am putting in petrol,I should remove the key. (This was not advised by my salesman). My car was then booked in again and they had this fixed, and they picked up that I have been leaving my key in my car while filling it with petrol ( And they usually charge to have this fixed)
On the 30 June 2022 my car license expired, I sent my dad to have this renewed on the 08th July 2022. I received a call from my dad, who advised that the traffic department has confirmed that my car is not road worthy, and this should be done before I can have my license renewed. I then immediately left work ,went to Renault Tokai, who called my salesman who sold the car to me. The salesman advised that I should go back to the traffic department and take my disc along to have this sorted. I spoke to the new car manager who made me aware that because it is a new car it should not be road worthy and that I should request the Natis from the salesman. I left Renault and went back to work, received a call from the manager of used vehicles who advised that he would follow up on this. I called the traffic department and spoke to Palesa who explained to me that my car was Regis in my name and the bank on the 09th July 2021. On the 25 October 2021 it was changed back to the dealership and the title owner. On the 29 October 2021 it was changed to my name and a different bank.
I the received a call from the salesman who sold the car to me Alistair Jansen ,he advised me to go back and this will be sorted. I made him aware of what Palesa advised me and I requested that he just double checks if there might not have been a mistake on there side, he insisted that everything was done correctly. I requested the natus and he advised that this was sent off to the bank.
At this point I was extremely frustrated, I have been driving the vehicle around *******ly, I am a female, and this was the first time I purchased a vehicle through a dealership. I had no idea what my next steps would be. I then received another call from the manager of used vehicles who advised that I need to deal with Alistair who was the salesman. I made it clear that there is no way I will be dealing with him as he is not even trying to see if can assist me. Then I was told to call back the Monday to speak to his manager.
Monday the 11th July 2022, I call the office, the manager was not available. I then received a call from Martin Smit who reassures me that he will get this sorted. He then gives me another call and makes me aware that there was no error on their side, and he is happy to forward me the Natis which I need to take to the traffic department.
As soon as I received the Natis, I left work and went to the traffic department. Spoke to the manager who showed me the documents of when the changes were done ( Exactly how Palesa explained this to me), they made an error when change of ownership was done, they then fixed it but not the correct way. I called Martin and explained this to him, he then understood, apologize, offers to do the road worthy and renew the license for me, which I am grateful for. Now I am still waiting for the change of ownership to show that I am the first owner of the vehicle as it currently shows that I am the second owner.
During all this back and forth, my partner contacted Martin and advised that should the error be on their end I would be compensated. When we figured out it was their fault, only an apology was given , the road worthy ( which was their problem) and the license was done for me. No fuel was reimbur*****t, when I had to give my vehicle for the road worthy.
In a year, u had to have my car booked in twice for a brand new vehicle. I had to go to the traffic department, stand in long queue 's during my work hours.( These house had to be worked back on my own time) I went to Renault to sort this out during work hours. Called Renault multiple times with my airtime, call the traffic department to figure out their fault.
I am extremely disappointed in such a huge brand such as Renault to have made this mistake, and that when the change of ownership was done on October they did not have the decency to contact me.
All my time ( Working hours) , fuel , efforts to pick up their mistakes and only my license was done and a simple apology after compensation was agreed on the call with my partner.
A huge thank you to everyone at Renault Tokai for all their support and effort.
I am looking forward to parting ways with Renault as soon as I can.
