Avoid Renault Midrand (Or actually just Renault in general)
I have had a less than satisfactory experience with Renault for the past 5 years, however today was my worst experience with any service provider in 24 years!!
Renault Midrand refused to accept the fact that due to Covid-19, I was unable to bring my car in for a service in 2020. I book it in for today (2021) and they tell me that the service is not covered on my service plan - that contract was terminated the moment I "skipped" a service. I tried reasoning with them about the pandemic but they would not listen to any of it.
I then asked how much my service would cost and they gave me a ridiculous total of around R10,500.00!!!!! After much negotiation and pointing out errors on their side, my total was brought down to R5,500. (Still a lot of money, but almost half of the original figure).
Not even an hour later, I receive a phone call letting me know that there is additional work that needs to be done. Break pads are worn (again? How can that be possible when I replaced them in 2019 and did not drive many kms in 2020 due to Covid) - a cost of R2000 to replace them. Next, wiper blades are worn - cost of R1500 to replace those. Lastly, they discovered a water leak (which I pointed out to them, just by the way) and they need to seal that at a cost of R2000 - cannot possibly be a manufacturing defect ... must definitely be my fault for moving the rubbers around. All in all, that is an additional cost of R5,500.00. Total service cost of R11,000.00.
Oh, and they lost my service book and were unwilling to give me a new one (shocker!).
Renault Midrand, I refuse to ever bring my car back to your dealership. I would rather go elsewhere and will try avoid Renault at all costs. Never been so disappointed with the service I have received.
Shocking shocking shocking!!!
