Renasa - The insurer that'll cost you your car

So, on the 27th of Jan, I was rear-ended while stopped at a red light.

I had stopped, with my handbrake up, when the person behind me failed to stop, and hit me at some speed.

I do not have insurance, but since it was the other parties fault, I thought no problem, I'll do a third party claim.

Well, dealing with Renasa has been a nightmare. Not only do they not communicate (3 weeks before I heard anything from them, and only because I followed up with them) but now they're refusing to pay for the towing.

Their client hit me so hard that my vehicle was unable to move, and therefore had to be towed.

To date, the towing fee is sitting at R18 000 (another hellopeter coming for Firsthelp)

My predicament now is that Firsthelp are threatening to sell my vehicle to recover their costs, and I cannot afford the R18 000 bill. Nor do I think it's fair in any way that after being hit from behind that I would be liable for the towing fee.

Thanks to Renasa's absolute incompetence with regards to taking care of the claim, and decision to not cover the towing fee, it now looks as though I'm going to be losing my car.

I cannot afford a new one either.
