⚠️ Potential Renasa customers – please read the fine print carefully**

**⚠️ Potential Renasa customers – please read the fine print carefully**

I am sharing my experience so that potential Renasa customers can make an informed decision before taking out a policy.

I am currently dealing with a motor vehicle claim with Renasa following an accident on **23 July 2026**.

I chose my own panel beater, Novagen, to repair my vehicle. I was subsequently informed that Renasa would apply an **additional 10% adjustment**, which in my case amounts to **R29,087.65**.

This additional 10% was **not communicated to me when I chose my repairer**, and I have not been able to find a provision in the documentation provided to me that clearly explains that I would be responsible for this additional 10% simply because I selected my own repairer.

What concerns me even more is that I formally contacted Renasa on **11 August 2026** requesting:

* The exact policy clause allowing the additional 10% adjustment. * The reason for the adjustment. * A full calculation and itemised breakdown. * Confirmation of how the amount was determined.

As of today, I have **still not received the requested explanation or breakdown**.

Renasa has provided written correspondence stating that an insured may nominate their preferred repairer, but the additional 10% being app**** to my claim has still not been properly explained to me.

My accident happened on **23 July**, and I am now almost a month into the claim without the repairs having been authorised.

I am posting this as a **warning to potential customers**: before taking out insurance with Renasa, I strongly recommend that you ask specifically about:

**“If I choose my own panel beater, will you deduct an additional percentage from my claim, and where is this stated in my policy?”**

Get the answer **in writing before you sign up**.

I am still giving Renasa the opportunity to resolve my claim and provide the information I have requested. If they do so, I will update this review accordingly.

At this stage, however, my experience has been extremely frustrating, and I would encourage potential customers to **read the policy wording very carefully and ask questions about repairer choice and any possible additional deductions before choosing Renasa.**

Reviewer Update
UPDATE – 24 August 2026 After repeatedly asking Renasa for an explanation of the additional 10% deduction, I have finally received a response. Renasa has now confirmed in writing that the deduction is a “commercial reduction” arising from a Service Level Agreement between Renasa and its preferred motor-body repairers. They also confirmed that there is no invoice for this deduction. This raises an even bigger concern for me: I chose my own repairer, and Renasa has previously confirmed in writing that I am entitled to nominate my preferred repairer. I therefore do not understand why I should personally carry the cost of a commercial agreement between Renasa and its preferred repairers. I am still waiting for Renasa to identify the specific clause in my insurance policy that allows this commercial reduction to be deducted from my claim. I believe this is something potential Renasa customers should be aware of when considering their insurance: ask specifically whether choosing your own repairer can result in a 10% deduction from your claim because you are not using one of Renasa's preferred repairers, and get the answer in writing before taking out the policy.
