Textbook case of rental **** at Remax: You pay a so-called admin fee upfront, but then you don't get the property

The sales department is awesome, but the rental division is terrible. We tried to rent a granny flat. They made us pay a credit screening fee of R 240 per person (non-refundable) but then the landlord didn't want to rent the flat to us for the time period that we app**** for. Then they kept the credit check fee, even though we never even made it to that stage of the process!

Never pay any of those rental admin fees to Remax Rentals unless you are 100% sure that you will get the place. Remax Rental is just like one of those gumtree ****s where you have to pay a fee upfront and then don't get what you paid for. The agent, Anita, also didn't respond when I asked her about the fee afterwards. I even mentioned to her upfront that I am hesitant to pay the credit screening fee before we heard from the landlord regarding the rental term.
