SA Consumer Vs Remax SA-(Sibiya Branch): Pathetic service! No accountability & No After-Sales Service!

I am absolutely disgusted & appalled to say the least at the service that I have recently received from the Remax SA. I recently purchased a property from Remax SA in July ’23 last year. The Real Estate agent dealt with at the time was Miss Meena Sithaldeen from the Remax SA:Sibiya Branch.

As a first-time property purchaser, I felt that REMAX and the Agent would have had my best interest at heart, however it was quite the contrary. I with the Agent prior to purchasing the property if everything was ok on the property to purchase. I questioned about leaks on the property and she assured me that everything was ok, only to find out that the property had been flooded previously and the cupboards had water damage. I questioned the agent about any leaks on the property and was told that this will be queried however nothing was queried nor disclosed to me. Upon painting the property, we found that there was water damage, the cupboards were damaged and a long list of things that were not fixed. I notified Remax Management, Meena & the Seller of this via email and requested for this to be fixed BEFORE the bond was registered which went blatantly ignored by all parties. Due to the recent heavy rains, my back yard was flooded and the gutters could not even handle the water which could not be contained. I later learnt from a qualified Plumber after doing an inspection on the plumbing that the plumbing done to this property was *******. I did bring this concerning issue to both Meena and the management of REMAX, however no one wants to take accountability for selling me a property that has ******* plumbing which in my belief should have been disclosed upon the intent to purchase . No hand over was done by Meena nor were the keys handed to me by the agent however instead it was left with the tenant at the time. I felt this was very unprofessional. The agent did not do her due diligence to ensure full disclosure on all aspects pertaining to the property. I requested for appointment for Meena at the property to show her all the damages, however she was too busy for me, the client. The Agent brushed off all the faults that I brought to her attention clearly evidencing that her only focus was earning the commission from the sale. Subsequent to this and in an attempt to further escalate these issues of concern,I then sent an email to Meena's Manager on the 22nd of December 2023 and to date, I have not received a response from anyone (16/01/2024) in this regard. What Pathetic service! No accountability & No After Sales Service! And here I was of the impression that REMAX was a reputable company. I had to ask for the Property plans as well as the Electrical Compliance Certificate which was only given to me 2 months later, that too being dropped off at the tenant. I cannot believe the pathetic, unprofessional service that I received as a client. The sale was never neutral and one sided as there was a conflict of interest. Is it this simple to sell a property with ******* connections? Besides the purchase price that we paid, we still had to spend an exorbitant amount of money to fix various issues/damages around the property as nothing was disclosed to us (despite me informing the agent of all the faults that we picked up). My reason for purchasing a property via as estate agent was so that I wouldn't be deceived. The plumbing will cost a further 12k to fix and no one is willing to take accountability for this.

Is this agent even qualified to sell property? Is this how all agents at REMAX do business? Is it this simple for a seller to get away with non-disclosure on the latent defects of this property???
