I had a bad experience with a bad landlord/ agent at Remax Bloemfontein. We rented part of a house and while we were living there the agent who eventually bought the house would arrive at the rented house without notification at any time of the day or even at night and started serious remodeling construction on the other side of the house. The power and water would be turned off without us being notified and the construction started at Level 4 when such activity was prohibited by the countries restrictions. We were also not notified that there would be construction. The construction workers would also walk to and from our side of the yard to the other side without asking us all the while we were paying full rent. The yard had a pool that had been neglected partly by us admittedly , however we eventually hired a guy to fix the pool and he started but did not finish the job as lock down was implemented yet the agent deducted his full fee from our deposit (R2200) without letting us know. We just saw the amount appear on the statement for rent, this was done without our knowledge of the deduction. Then she hired a new guy to fix the pool and said the former guy was a bad pool repairman (she had reffered the former to me when i hired him) and charged us again after we had moved out. When ever I complained to her about the above issues she would simply say its her house and she can do what she wants then scolded me about the state of the pool. We also had to buy electricity directly from her and were not allowed to by ourselves, so I had to pay into her personal bank account for electricity and she would send pictures of coupons. The agent also took a long time to pay out the deposit and insists we also pay the second pool guy before she pays our deposit back, we are still waiting and we moved out the 30th of June 2020.
