RE/MAX Bay

My experience as a tenant for the past two years has been nothing short of a nightmare with RE/MAX Bay in Gqeberha, and I feel compelled to share my concerns to prevent others from facing similar issues.

From the very beginning, promises made during the initial signing and subsequent renewals have been consistently broken.

I have endured two years without a properly working shower. The exterior walls and seals in the property also continue to leak whenever it rains, requiring me to mop up the water regularly. The property has several broken doors, with no indication of any effort made to repair or replace them. My attempts to address these issues through emails to the agency have often gone unanswered or met with excuses, leaving me feeling neglected and frustrated.

Even minor repairs, such as leaking taps and broken windows, have taken an unacceptable amount of time—10 emails and 6 months—to be addressed.

Broken tiles, rusted frames, broken curtain rails, leaking doors, and doors without handles are persistent issues that remain unaddressed, contributing to an overall unsafe and unsuitable living environment.

The agency promised to resolve these matters before my move-in date, but unfortunately, nothing was fixed. This breach of agreement reflects a lack of commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities. Again making similar promises to encourage renewal, yet the issues still persists 6 months later.

On my first day in the property, I had to pay R900 for a locksmith due to a faulty night latch, no refund was provided and was promptly ignored when raising the issue.

Considering the monthly rent of 7k and the deposit, I expected a reasonable level of upkeep and maintenance. However, it appears that RE/MAX Bay prioritizes signing new tenants over fulfilling their obligations to those already in their properties.

I strongly advise against renting from RE/MAX Bay in Gqeberha. The consistently poor living conditions, unfulfilled promises, and lack of urgency in addressing tenant concerns are indicative of a rental agency that neglects the well-being of its occupants.
