REMAX

I rented a house through the company Remax in June 2018. I was told that the house is clean and in very good condition and a day before my move arrived in Port Alfred I was told by the the lady that handled my rental by the name of Arlene that all is well and clean for us to move in. We arrived a day before my move in the early hours of the monrning at 01h30. When we arrived at the house we were absolutely shocked to see in what a mess we had to sleep for the evening. There were no taps in the showers or bathrooms, the place was absolutely filthy dirty, building material was all over the inside of the house, the house was not cleaned seeing that builders were still building all over the house with a load of sand in the lounge, bricks and tools all over, plastic sheets to cover some furniture, rusted windows, some rooms had no lampshades, just cement floors, no tiles or carpets just cement, house not painted inside or out. Now this was supposed to be a good and clean house to move into, but the photos on the web were old photos and not the house as it is. I immediately phoned the agent and complained and said there is no way that I will stay in this house and that they must make a plan to get me another house. Arlene told me that I must go and stay in a hotel for they will pay the cost until they can arrange something ells for us. The following day REMAX took us to stay in a holiday flat in the mean time until they got us a house that we can actually live in. That afternoon my move arrived and I still did not have a house to move into. The company that did my move phoned me at the address where I was supposed to move into and i met with them. As I arrive a gentleman came from the house that was doing building and repair work in the house. I told him my predicament and even he said that there is no way that the house is suitable for anybody to move into as it is. I had to store my furniture at another site seeing that the company that did my move had to get back to PE. We staid in the holiday flat without our clothing or anything and had to start looking for a home all over again. By the second day we were taken to some homes to view and eventually saw a house that we were happy with. We also could not take to long as I had to be back in Johannesburg for business. We could not move into the house immediately seeing that the owners had to first remove their furniture, so we staid for close to two weeks in the holiday flat. I had to go back to Johannesburg for business and my wife had to move all the furniture to the house by herself, the darn agent did not even assist her seeing the mess they created.The owner Mr Warrick Henry did not even have the decency to phone or try and help my wife. Needless to say since we moved in I had endless troubles with the agent, they just do not help with problems or with things that are broken, but they claim their commission from the rental.I have been complaining for six months for keys and remotes and the I am told to go and make them myself. I have a problem with the water supply and had to fix that my self etc etc. Please anybody that wants to move to Port Alfred, stay away from the company REMAX. Today Mr Warwick Henry verbally abused my wife in the street and shouted at her. Unfortunately I am in Johannesburg and that is how he operates.
