Disappointing service from REMAX GOODWOOD
In June 2019 we became official owners of our first home which we purchased through Remax.
The service received from the agent was disappointing. We were discouraged by him to purchase the property because one of the banks rejected our offer and because there was a delay in the processing of our paperwork.
Furthermore, he accused us of purposefully delaying the paperwork with the bank in order to delay the purchase from being finalized and this was not the case at all. We asked the attorney, chosen by them, to confirm that this was not the case and they did.
The agent did not have the decency to see that the keys were handed over to us. We had to arrange the hand over with the owner because he ran over the proposed time given for the day the hand over was supposed to happen (a Friday).
When we got the keys for the house, it was filthy. I spent a whole Saturday doing a thorough clean, scrubbing the cupboards, stove, etc.
To top it a off, the following items were removed:
-Dstv satellite dish -Aerial for the TV -Tap for the front of the house is not in working order -All curtain rails, rods and tie-backs have been removed -Shelves fitted to the wall have been removed -The oven and stove is not connected properly, as soon as you move the cupboard in which it is built then it does not work -After the sellers removed their washing machine they left a big hole in the wall which their water pipe was running through -There were rubble and empty beer bottles in the yard -There are bulbs missing from the property
All the fittings and fixtures removed removed leaving the walls in the house with holes.
All that was done about it was that the owner returned the physical things to us i.e. satellite dish, curtain railings, etc. , but the damage was already done.
Furthermore,
1. I have been unable to use the oven since we moved in. I thought it was something I did wrong but when I got it assessed they informed me that the thermostat and element of the oven is disfunctional due to wear and tear. This is how we got the oven!
2. The kitchen roof which is below the balcony leaks (dripping drops of water) and again when I got it assessed they informed me that it is due to the deteriorated water proofing above the balcony which is the condition we got the place in.
3. The spareroom wall which is adjacent to the bathroom is so moist that it is crumbling and this is due to the sealant around the bath not being maintained and therefore allowing water to seep through and cause water damages.
We now have to fork out for the existing damages we were unaware of which I find utterly unfair. I have informed Remax of the last 3 points made above and I am eager to hear what their response will be.
I will send you an email.
