Building re-construction disaster
We bought a property through Remax Potchefstroom, in a retirement village. Pieter Fourie is the agent. Introduced the so-called excellent "builder" Jaco Dippenaar to us. We received a quote for R100, 000 which was doubtfully accepted by us. Trusted Jaco with the renovations. We lived over 420kms away yet tried to see the progress for ourselves, two weekly. The unenvolved and non supportive agent, Pieter Fourie, handed they keys of our property to Jaco Dippenaar, not to us. That is where the nightmare started. Jaco's "building team" was collected on the street corners. His partner Brenda, kicked him out of her home. Jaco was homeless, meanwhile he used our home to sleep in and drink excessively. Without the knowledge of the other elderly, living in the village kept this low key. Sold our DVD decoder with sim card, stole/sold other goods as well as my husband's "army days" kit bag which included 2 sleeping bags. Then "supervised" the building progress under the influence of alcohol. What a disaster!! All pasted together in such a unseemingly manner and utter building disaster. The total to the amount we paid Jaco, to date, is R83490. Our bank statements will reveal. Jaco promised to keep all the slips. He disappeared leaving is with irreparable damages and loss. We are pensioners and used our savings on changes to our property. Remax will not assist with the repairs and take no responsibility for all irreparable damages. Adéle, Principal of Remax, is in daily contact with Remax. They are friends. Pieter Fourie, the selling agent, came to our property with Jaco and Chandré an architect to discuss the changes. New plans were draw. Chandré sent a copy to Pieter Fourie whom in return sent a copy of the new structural changes of the plan to us and Jaco. We the drove to our Potchefstroom home to get the building work started. Jaco, so said, knew what to do. Twice we had to drive to Potchefstroom to buy urgently required building supplies, paid from our account. Over and above the 50% deposit. Our agent, Pieter Fourie, remained low key. Very little is discussed with us regarding the purchase and questions we still seek answers for in this whole property deal at Rose Tuin 1, 3 Vygie Street, Mederpark, Potchefstroom. We need urgent support to re-renovate and assist with our financial losses. Thank you. Amanda Visagie - Weyers
