"Avoiding time wasters" - you are in the wrong career!

Remax Blauuwberg Road. I saw a property on Property24 which I was interested in leasing. I phoned the agent to set up a VIEWING of the property whereby I was told that I need to fill out the forms that will be sent to me via email to be able to set up a VIEWING. I then get emailed 'Application to Rent' forms. I thought this was an error and called back. I was told that these forms had to be filled in and sent through ALONG WITH copy of my ID, 3 months bank statements and 3 months payslips - TO VIEW A PROPERTY.

I said that I don't understand why I need to fill this in and send through all these docs to simply view a property. I even offered to meet the estate agent at her offic and leave my ID/belongings there if it was a safety concern. I was told that this is to avoid TIME WASTERS.

You are an estate agent. You are in sales. Time wasters are part of the job. Your job!

And no, it is not a new procedure as I called other REMAX offices and asked what the process was to set up a viewing. I was told by ALL the offices that I called "you simply contact the agent and arrange a time for the viewing". To which I then asked "Okay, so I don't need to fill out an "application to rent?" and the response I got from one particular branch "NO MAM - THAT MAKES NO SENSE - YOU ONLY FILL OUT AN APPLICATION TO RENT FORM FOR A PROPERTY YOU HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN AND WANT TO RENT"

Shocking service.
