Unfair policy

Good day

I received a birthday gift bought at Relay jeans using a store account. The product does not fit so I went in the store to have them change it for the exact product but bigger size. I was told the account holder must be present. The issue now is the account holder is in a different province. Now I'm stuck with a gift I can't use because of this policy.
