Bad Customer Service from Center Manager and ********* billing
I signed a month to month agreement for day office rental with Regus Constantia Kloof, JHB branch with the possibility of me extending. In my first 6 months I was very happy with there which left me considering that I might want to stay there longer and grow my business at this branch. At the time there was the center manager, Amanda, operating the center which I signed up with. She was a darling and so welcoming whenever I would walk into the office.
She then left and a new center manager was appointed, Kerry-Ann, and since then I haven't enjoyed my time at Regus. Whenever I would go into the office I would get told that the office which was assigned to m, upon booking, would be sold to someone else and that they need to up their sales at the center - so unless I signed a 3 year agreement - I wouldn't be very secure in the office space I had preferred. I had then decided to cancel because I did not want to hear that a office space would not be secured if I didnt sign a longer lease everytime I'm there - that changed my whole idea of possibly signing a longer lease as I thought forcing one to sign and in the manner it was done was unprofessional, what if (for whatever reason) I wasn't able to sign a longer lease?
Kerry-Ann also at one stage came with a gentleman into the office I was in to discuss office layout and fixtures while I was busy working whereas Amanda did this when one was not around so that we wouldn't get disturbed during the time we have paid for. Again, not professionalism towards paying clients.
I then went on the search because of my change of heart and found something cheaper and bigger closer to the area. Non the less, I advised Kerry-Ann that I'd like to cancel and would happily serve a notice along with my verbal reasons for cancellation to which I received a response that it was all a joke. Is this how your center managers joke with paying clients? She then advised me I'm signed to a fixed 12 month lease so I can't just cancel. I disputed this and sent email proof as well as confirmation that my lease was infact month to month. She then accepted this proof and advised for me to cancel, I need to do this online. I asked her why i wasn't notified of this way of cancellation when i signed up and she couldn't provide a solid answer.
I battled to cancel online and she then agreed to my cancellation via email, provided I serve a notice. I've advised that my deposit which I have paid when signing up can be used towards rent for the notice period's rent and she then agreed to this advising that she will action accordingly, also keeping in mind that I did not have any outstanding amounts with Regus because my rent was always paid up on time, same date that I would get an invoice.
I moved out and into my new office during my notice period so I did not stay at regus or make use of their resources during my notice period but left my deposit to be used towards that. It's been 3 months since I've been at Regus. Every month since leaving to date, I'd get an invoice from Regus. I've emailed Kerry-Ann with the first time recieving an invoice after my cancellation and she advised she has processed my cancellation and instructed that my deposit gets used towards notice rent, she assured me that she will look into this and get it sorted. Another month goes by and I get an invoice again with double the rental amount now outstanding. I email Kerry-Ann again. She says she is trying to get it sorted but no explanation as to how she is trying or how she tried or any assurance that it will be sorted out this time round, I asked for her superiors details because I've just about enough of her and her way of handling me as a customer from the day she has taken over the center and she tells me to call the call center with no further assistance to help me. This month again, I get a FINAL NOTICE saying I will be handed over and on this occasion I've decided to formally complain on a public platform because the incompetence of center managers not taking my generosity (allowing them to fix the errors) to heart. I will take this further with my lawyers if it's not sorted and complain on other public platforms if not addressed. I'M SICK OF THIS, I DON'T OWE YOU A CENT AND I'M ASTOUND BY YOU LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
