Unfair Claim Rejection

I have been dealing with this issue for over a month now trying to pursue a claim. I have been with Regent life since I bought my car back in 2013, simply just because it was supported by Wesbank the finance for our car. We have been paying for this service along with our car for the past 3 years and few months.

Sadly in April I was retrenched and had to go through all the claim issues. Initially I was sent to IUA by Wesbank for some weird reason but then later got placed onto Regent months later. So I pursue my claim and get told about all the form requirements. Sadly my previous employer failed to give me a contract and anything legally binding I understand it is a difficult to help, but the fact is I have proof I was permanently employed but do not have a UI19 form or welcome letter, but do have bank statements and letters from my employer stating I was working for the business.

This being said Regent life rejected my claim off the bat, but I kept requesting since this is a service I pay for and I was in fact retrenched. So I spoke to someone again who just says that the letter is needed to prove I was working there regardless of everything I've requested. So I then requested to speak to a manager, who I was told will contact me later that day which never happened within 2 weeks of contact. I wrote a formal complaint letter which also has not been responded to.

I now called Regent yet again and have had to speak to multiple different people and to end up with a lady who made more sense but still wouldn't assist in the claim.

I've had a bad enough ordeal going through a retrenchment, getting sent to the wrong insurer and lastly getting rejected by the one claim which I needed the most, the cover for my car. I have had all my other insurances process my claims on my credits, I'm struggling to understand why this is the only one that doesn't want to assist.

I am putting in an application to The Ombudsman for assistance, as I can't take this anymore.

It's sad when I call and I hear "Regent - Go on, you're covered" and realise that I've been paying for something which doesn't help me in the slightest.

Thank you Regent for showing me just how much humanity is left in the world.
