Regent does not care for its clients or the Insurance Ombudsman

My mother took out credit life insurance in October 2014 on a vehicle she purchased, she disclosed that she was suffering from COPD, the policy was accepted, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2016, and passed away in July 2016 of lung cancer.

I lodged a claim with Regent in July 2016 after the passing of my mother, now months later, and many lawyers letters later and the involvement of The Long Term Insurance Ombudsman, Regent still refuses to pay out or even respond to the Ombudsman.

Administrative staff at Regent have repudiated the claim and rejected the signed and sworn evidence given by three Doctors / Specialists who treated my mother "on research they have done themselves" saying that COPD and lung cancer are "related" and their policy excludes payment for "related' causes, when these very Doctors, who have no vested interest in this matter, have categorically stated that this is not the case. You die from one or the other, not from both. You don't get one and then automatically get the other.

How can Regent administrative people simply ignore medical facts? Are they saying that they either don't believe these Doctors, or that they are better qualified to make this medical judgement. How can this be allowed?

When challenged as to their medical qualifications, Regent advised us to take their findings to the Ombudsman. And when we did, they simply couldn't be bothered to reply to the Ombudsman.

Ironically another vehicle insured through another insurance company on this same death accepted the written testimony of the Doctors and settled their claim promptly and professionally.

The level of service and professionalism received from Regent Insurance Company has been completely arrogant and nothing short of shocking.

COMPLAINT MUMBER CAS-132035-Q0P1N8

POLICY NUMBERS CLL081517POL / CLL00292CLM

How about answering the simple question of your administrative staff having the qualifications to ignore the written and signed submissions by three medical Doctors and Specialists, that the two diseases are related as you claim, and being the reason behind your repudiation?
Or how about replying to the repeated requests for an answer to my complaint from the Long Term Insurance Ombudsman?
Or the fact that another insurance company paid on a similar claim on the same death?
I am beyond frustrated with your company as you have managed to draw this matter out for months at my cost without an answer to our questions against your repudiattion.
