INSURANCE RIPOFF

Wesbank recommended a 'scratch & dent' policy cover offered by Regent Insurance Company when I bought a company Isuzu bakkie. I agreed as the premiums seemed reasonable for the cover described by the Wesbank agent. After 3 years of paying the monthly premium I decided to claim for some minor scratches that were starting to rust. Got two quotes, both for just over R 7 000 and submitted the claim. Claim repudiated on the following grounds: 1. Rust is not covered 2. The maximum amount they will pay is R 2 000. If the total claim is under R 5 000 they will pay the first R 2 000 and I pay the balance. As my claim exceeds R 5 000 they won't pay anything. Having done the rounds of panel beaters I was reliably informed that NO bodywork comes in at under R 2 000 and therefore Regent rarely entertains a claim. This is a ripoff!
