Refinery Cape Gate: Terrible customer service

I purchased a pair of shoes (size 8) from Refinery, Cape Gate, Brackenfell on the 10th of September 2023. I exchanged the shoes on the 24th of September as they were too big, and took the same pair in a size 7. I used these shoes for not more than 4 hours and was in excruciating pain for three days thereafter due to the development of blisters on both feet from wearing the shoes for a very limited time. I took the shoes back to the store on the 3rd of October and requested a refund. The cashier said that they could not process a refund since I had worn the shoes. I explained that they were obviously too small and had caused severe pain, she consulted her manager, who could not address me herself and instead remained in her office, and said unfortunately they cannot accept the shoes. I asked the cashier how I would know an item does not fit me adequately unless I wear it, she said that’s why I should try things on, which I had done in the store before taking the shoes home. The cashier suggested that I try to wear the shoes more and maybe it will stretch and feel better. I told her it was the most uncomfortable shoe I had ever worn and cannot put myself through the pain again, she said sorry, unfortunately we cannot help. The inability of Refinery to assist in such a matter is very disappointing. The manager did not have the courtesy to address a customer directly, which is poor management, resulting in the loss of a frequent customer. Overall pathetic customer service and a very disappointing interaction.
