Complaint

I was suspended from work and in desperate need of legal advise. The suspension was a clear case of unfair labour practice and I called a former colleague who referred me to her Employment lawyer. She said Ms Jacqui Reed is very reasonable, she was not going to charge me more than R2500 just for legal advise. She Text me her numbers, fast forward, got hold of Ms Reed. At first, she was hesitant to assist me. She was concerned about going against her fellow colleagues/Attorneys. A day later she changed her mind and all of a sudden, she was keen to help. She started off communicating with me via WhatsApp and we then exchanged email addresses. She was so quick to draft letters to my Employer and she did not even talk about a quotation or anything of a sort. I worked for a Law firms for 6 years and I know for a fact that they provide a clear quotation to their clients before taking on a case... Ms Reed failed to do so. It is common practice for a lawyer to charge an initial consultation fee if they wish to, but they must make any charges and conditions clear to a consumer before legal advise is given to a potential client. In my view, Jacqui Reed is an opportunist. She took advantage of me as I was in a desperate situation and she thought she could make a quick buck from me. What kind if Lawyer does that? Jacqui Reed had no intention of assisting me at all. She knew from the onset of the outcome of my suspension...but she just went with it. Before I knew it, her accounts department email me an invoice of R10000.00. Jacqui and I never had a proper one on one meeting. She did not represent me in court, and that is the bill I get for WhatsApp messages and emails.? I do not know what kind of an operation she is running, but she needs to be exposed!
