Easily the worst company I have ever dealt with, including government departments

My first introduction of how bad Rectron Cape Town is (I cannot speak for the other branches) was when my wife's laptop which had been purchased through Loot needed a warranty repair, and it took absolute ages, and it turned out it was sitting with Rectron who didn't bother to reply to enquiries. But then mid September last year a Gigabyte laptop that I had purchased with them started showing issues on the screen (under warranty), they told me they would need to order a new screen. When I hadn't heard from them by the end of the first week of December I made enquiries and I was handed over to a workshop administrator who was always friendly in her replies, but the replies (this appears to be a typical Rectron ploy) was always to say that they had made enquiries with XYZ and were just waiting for an answer - never an estimate of how long it would take, and never any attempt on their side to follow up. I.e. this was simply a way of fobbing one off. If I made further enquiries to chase things up, I would get a "’ve done a follow up this morning, will revert again.", once again with no timelines and no follow-ups.

Well eventually, after weekly enquiries from me, they told me in January that the screen has been discontinued and so I can replace the computer or get a refund under warranty. It took a lot of ignored emails to realise these people would not let me know which replacement options there were, involving the workshop administrator hanging up on me the one time I actually dared to suggest to her that this was unacceptable with subsequent emails suggesting I take the refund (i.e. I was not worthy of doing further business with them), I dropped off the laptop off on 15 Feb and filled the forms for the refund which, I was assured, was paid each Thursday. Whereafter my weekly enquiries were met with various spurious excuses, including the good old "I have contacted the finance department, and am waiting for them to get back to me". Then there was the purported "banking details have changed" causing a delay; they had not been changed. And yet more delays.

Finally payment was made on 17 March, but only because someone else (who gives them regular orders) got involved on my behalf and started calling their BS out.
