Magazines no longer sold in South Africa - no premium refunds
<p>I subscribed to Readers Digest for my 85 year old Father as he likes to read the magazines.</p> <p>We did not receive any magazines or any communication in 3 months.</p> <p>I then emailed to find out if the subscription was active - to be told that they no longer sell the product in South Africa. They only provide internet access to a web version of the magazine. My Dad being unable to use this - I requested a refund of the premium paid. In 8 months this has not been forthcoming so it appears that subscriptions are being accepted but no magazines or refunds provided. Very Poor Service ...Be Warned - Do not subscribe to Readers Digest in South Africa anylonger unless you want web access ....</p> <p>Everytime I address the refund issue - I get the following response :</p> <p>"Thank you for your recent email to Reader's Digest. <br /> <br /> Unfortunately we unable to supply Mr ............ with any magazine as Readers Digest we will no longer be publishing the Reader's Digest Magazine in South Africa. We do apologies for any inconvenience caused<br /> <br /> Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance. If there is anything further we can do for you do not hesitate to contact us again. " <br /> </p>
Further to this review of Readers Digest Magazines in South Africa - I finally did get a response from the correct department at Readers Digest and they attempted to refund me from Australia but with costs of international Transfer payable by me. ... The costs were higher than the original amount to be refunded. I messaged them again and made them aware of the issue and that I expected a refund from South Africa as I had paid premiums in South Africa and that they needed to absorb the costs of international transfer themselves as its their issue that they cant pay from SA. They then did this and I did get a refund into my bank account for the full amount paid in Sept 2016 - Thanks very much Readers Digest Australia for sorting out the problem - much appreciated.....
The email contact that I used to get this sorted out **********
