Bad Bad service

6 weeks ago we received and approved a quote for work to be done on renovations to our house.

We had to pay 80 % deposit as requested. Work began and all seemed to go well.

After 3 weeks work seemed to stagnate and excuses were starting to roll in. We waited weeks and weeks for tiling to be done, The workers were left unsupervised and unpaid and when we tried to call the man his phone only rang and he never called back. the workers sat around and told us they were waiting for tiles.

4 weeks in We have had enough and a falling out ensued where He started name calling and threats were made, excuses about the tiles and the rest of the supplies that was supposed to be covered by the 80 % deposit was still not seen. Drips and drabs of tiles were laid and the bathroom work came to a standstill. On Mondays he would promise work to be done on Wednesday and come Wednesday the tiles would only arrive the Friday and so it continued.

At one point we came to find that tiles were laid in the bathroom we never approved and he said that he could not fine the tiles we wanted and "used his own initiative when choosing the tiles" Never were we called to tell us he cannot find the tile we wanted and or bothered to ask for an alternative. Keep in Mind the deposit and the quote and what we wanted was all discussed 4 weeks prior. All the tiles we wanted were sent by whatsap with pictures so there could not be a 4 week wait for tiles neither did he ask for alternatives or help in finding a tile that suits us to complete the work.

Week 5 we decided we have had enough. We asked for the tiles and the rest of the equipment stated on his quote that was covered by the deposit to be delivered to our place as we would find another contractor as this is taking way to long. We would only except the equipment that was outstanding the rest of the money he could keep.

We were told he will not give us the money and or the equipment As there was a balance outstanding and that balance would cover the equipment he failed to deliver which is way less than what he was paid for at the beginning.

We have no other choice but to open a case of theft as we are not getting anything from this man. All excuses and when confronted he gets aggressive and blocks your calls.

When the quote was given the deposit was paid and we were promised that the work will take no longer than a week. Its Been six week as from 13 March 2023.

We told Him we have no choice but to take legal steps and all he had to say was " go ahead"
