Settled account; but handed over

I was called by your agent to pay a settlement account which I paid on the 3rd of October; but my account has now been handed over to Nortam attorneys and has accumulated some charges to about 1500. I paid a settlement of about 1700...now 3 months later I have to pay 1500?
