RCS/Edgars Account Services Complaint
It is regarding Edgars and RCS with my account. I please require your assistance as have been battling to resolve this issue since October 2020. Am not sure if others are also experiencing this?
In October 2020 I paid the full balance of R292.00 on my statement which I regarded as having cleared the balance.(The account was not in arrears). I requested that my Edgars account be closed.
The amount paid (R292) reflected on my account statement in November 2020 as paid but there were then additional amounts then added to my statement.
I then kept getting statements/notifications to say I need to pay further amounts. After visiting an Edgars store in November I was told that Edgars had been taken over by RCS. I was asked if I would like to switch my Edgars card to a new Edgars RCS card. I declined and didn't complete the application forms.
I have to date still been trying to sort this out. They have reflected a further R260 on my closed account since October 2020. I have not purchased anything or signed up for any additional agreements.
I have sent emails to both RCS and Edgars stating that I have closed this account in October 2020 via email requesting this. I sent copies of this initial email (October 202) to them and received no communication what so ever. Instead they have ignored this and keep sending me notifications to pay R260.
On 26th February I calledthe RCS call centre to query the issues. They stated that I need to obtain a financial settlement letter to close my account.
Please note:
I have never entered into any financial agreements with RCS or Edgars.
I paid my account on time/by due dates for the past 30 years and kept it in order.
I have never obtained any communication from Edgars or RCS that I had entered into any insurance, or financial agreements.
I was then also told by the Edgars store customer care that I had a life club membership. This has never been communicated to me and have never received any correspondence or documentation regarding this. This should have stopped when I notified Edgars/RCS of closing my Edgars account in October 2020. Why did they not inform me after numerous emails to them?
If Edcon was taken over by RCS I did not agree or sign up with RCS for a new account. My account is closed and therefore should not have to require any settlement letter in order to close my account. I had made no further purchases and my account was paid up to date.
My account was up to date and paid on time and there should be no penalties or fees owed.
In addition I had requested by email for my account to be closed with immediate effect in October 2020. Why was this communication ignored by RCS?
I feel the Directors of RCS are taking advantage of Edgars customers and trying to get them to hand over money unfairly and for no reason. I am not their client (RCS).
RCS needs to explain to customers why this has been done and rectify this error.

I received an sms notification today (***1) stating that non-payment will negatively affect my credit profile. They have not attempted to resolve the issue and correct it?
Unfortunately that is not professional and neither good service.
They need to address the issues and give substantial evidence as to the background of charges.
There seems to be similar issues that other customers are also posting on Hello Peter reviews.
