RCS-Financed Retail Cards: ********* Practices

This has been a harrowing couple of months. First there was ***** on my Makro account (financed through RCS) that took five months to resolve. My debit order was cancelled and with the first subsequent payment, whilst the ***** was being investigated, I was told to make a manual payment as per my normal installment. By the time I received the instruction it was in the beginning of a new month for the previous month and then diligently kept paying at the end of every month. I kept receiving phone call about an arrears account and had to explain several times about the *****. Subsequently, the ***** was reversed (after having to submit the documents three times). However, my account remained in arrears. I then asked RCS to reverse the interest I was charged on the ***** amount, which they flagged no less than 13 times for their ***** department (still not done). Then, my account says I am still in arrears with a full month's installment, which cannot be. I am inundated with messages, emails and call.

The ridiculousness: the payment I made on instruction previously, whilst my account was being investigated, does not count as an installment because I cannot pay in advance. What? So, the instruction now is to pay the arrears amount, which includes the late month's installment and the interest on the ***** and subsequent late payment?? If this is true, then it would mean, even if I was inclined to pay the amount again, it would be a second payment for the month and hence, common sense tells me it will not "count towards the installments or arrears". I have reported this and received promises of it being attended to, yet the calls, letters, and messages keep coming. HOW IS THIS ETHICAL? I counted; in the last three months, your correspondence includes 29 notifications including calls.

What do I get in return for all of this? I am a very responsible consumer and now my credit record severely affected and I had to settle for terrible interest rates on my study loan and car loan (since it is based on your credit rating). Thanks for that.

I am an academic in business management; RCS, you are breaking the law. I wish you could just apply the same diligence in sorting out your mistakes like you do with your communications when you feel wronged. I feel embarrassed for every single customer consultant that phones me... and I feel bad because my irritation is directed at them. For now, I will make my installments but I refuse to pay for your questionable practices and I will definitely not purchase on my Makro card again.
