Pathetic customer service: RCS, a bottomless call centre pit?

I had purchased a heater from GAME on the 21st of July 2017, on what I presumed at the time to be money credited to my account. After I had received a statement, and upon querying said statement, it was divulged to me that it had in fact not been credit but a credit limit.

After some confusion, I had realised my mistake and subsequently requested a settlement amount, and on the 19th of October 2017, paid the amount given to me. The following month I received another statement indicating an outstanding amount. I contacted RCS telephonically, explaining that payment had been made and after an extended conversation the agent informed me that a query would be logged whereafter I would be contacted within the next seven days.

Lo and behold, seven days passed without a word from RCS. Shortly thereafter I called and spoke to an agent, who was wholly unaware of the 'query' that had been logged and the information contained therein. After another protracted conversation, the agent again proceeded to log a query, with the same promise of a response within seven days.

Suffice to say that I had become fairly fed up when again another seven days passed, and I received a call from a different agent shortly thereafter. The same situation played itself out repeatedly, with no indication of any clarity on the matter.

Viewing my chances as slim for effectively communicating telephonically, I opted to send RCS an email, which to this day has gone unanswered.

I received an sms today stating that my account was to be handed over. I called RCS, and after a minute-long conversation I was put on hold, indefinitely. ( As seems to be standard procedure at RCS)

Now, considering the above and the fact that my every attempt thus far to bring some degree of clarity to the matter and settle it, has been met with what seems to me to be an entirely *********** and disinterested attitude. Are the queries simply not logged or is RCS wholly disinterested in assisting customers on queries it doesn't deem to be significant enough? This is absolutely pathetic customer service and I feel strongly that being a company who provides credit you should have a far better handle on situations of this nature.

That being said, could you kindly advise me on how to proceed. I would like an answer to my initial query, as had I initially been provided with a logical response as to why there was still money due after I had already settled the "total" amount given to me by RCS, I would gladly have paid the remaining outstanding balance. As this clearly hasn't happened and the amount has now, once again, accrued interest and I have wasted both time and money in attempting to drag some form of response or explanation from the bottomless pit that is the RCS call centre I am finally at wits end and left with no options but to write this review.

Please be aware that should my account be handed over for collection and this in any way affects my credit rating, which up till now has been perfect, I will be taking the matter up further.

Please do feel free to make any contact in order for us to clarify this situation.

You do have all my particulars and should you need any further clarification on the matter, why not pull one of the numerous calls which you so diligently advise are "recorded for safety and quality purposes".

Yours frustratedly

Mr Marais
