Financial *****

My mother recently got notification from RCS for an amount owing on her account. She however did not open account as she is a pensioner and will derive no benefit from such an account.

She tried contacting their call centre to resolve with no joy. My concern is that how can someone that is a pensioner with no credit record open an account. In addition how did someone open an account in her name given all the checks one needs to go through to open an account. This is disturbing and tantamount to the financial services laws of treating customers fairly.

I would like this account closed as a matter of urgency and RCS must do their own investigations. I don't see why my mother must go through the pain, at her age, to be running around with public transport to get affidavit and to go to RCS head office because they are uncontainable via phone. I would like for this to be resolved a a matter of urgency. And then they still have the audacity of charging her 23% interest which I will never allow. As a qualified professional I know that this is day light ******* so I will never allow her as a pensioner to open such and account.
