Pieman's Pies - Disgusting!

I purchased two Pieman’s Steak and kidney pies at Pick n Pay Summerfields on Thursday afternoon. (22 Aug) For a company that professes to have “SA’s No 1 Pie” I would hate to sample 2nd and 3rd place!! The quality of the pies is absolutely revolting! Neither pie had any s****s of kidney let alone decent size pieces. But that was not the worst of it! Both pies were filled with chewy gristle that had no resemblance to ‘steak’ in any shape or form! Any company that produces such sub-standard food offerings should have their license revoked! If RCL thinks that using offcuts to save on costs is acceptable, then there is a rude awakening coming. And, there should be quality controls through the entire process from selection of meats to final packaging – clearly not! Today social media is an absolute nightmare when the message gets amplified many thousands of times. Are the shortcuts worth it?? Subsequently I received a reply asking me to provide - Manufactured date; Time (?); Best before date and BATCH number!! The pies were in the display cabinet inside PnP. They are placed in a small packet and barcode priced. Where am I, as the consumer, supposed to get that sort of information from. RCL has offered to send me "Wicode" to purchase replacements. What will the likelihood be of getting Pieman's pies that all of a sudden have real steak and chunks of kidney in them??
