I want to share our awful experience with Rhyno Lemmer from RCI in St Helena Bay. The sole reason for doing this is to possibly spare others within the community from going through the same ordeal that we did. Doing it for the 'greater good' of the West Coast community. We moved to St Helena Bay last year, July 2021 and after considering various builders for a project that entailed the enclosure of our front stoep, we appointed a builder to do the job for us. The long and short of this story is that we ended up paying R160924 (after the quote increased mid-way because of reported increase of storage of materials). It was then brought to our attention by Rhyno Lemmer who was contracted by various banks and insurance companies to complete assessments, that the roof had various defects, amongst others the pitch that was too low, etc. We could see from photos and a technical report provided by Rhyno that the work done on the roof was clearly sub-standard. Rhyno's report costed us R1250. With the first heavy rains that we had after the job was initially completed the roof leaked horribly. We tried endlessly to get the builder to admit his wrongdoing and correct it but he refused. That's when we asked Rhyno to give us a quote to correct the faults. Unfortunately we ended up having a leak again after Rhyno completed the job for R47475, causing the ceiling (Isoboard) to cave in. Rhyno was informed about the incident and returned to fix it. By now the roof was signed off and approved by the Municipality's building inspector, who approved the roof both after both builders finished their jobs, but without climbing onto the roof to physically inspect it. Mind-boggling if you ask me. After Rhyno has been to fix the roof after the leak we saw photos of the roof on the outside and then only we became aware of the poor state of parts of the roof. The Isoboard ceiling was 'fixed' leaving it with large numbers of unsightly *****s. Despite seeing photos of the state of the roof and ceiling and promises to return to our home or communicate with us, Rhyno now has gone quiet. He is clearly not to be trusted eventhough he presented himself initially as honorable and sincere.
