Losses at body shop

My 2009 Isuzu 4x4 double cab was involved in an accident on 18 December 2018. The left front wheel came off with wheel hub, brakes disc, caliper and the steering knuckle. My insurer Budget Insurance towed the vehicle to Ray Giese Body Shop in King Williamstown. Budget rejected my claim because I had missed the December premium. The vehicle was returned to me in February. The wheel that came out was missing/ lost and the car radio missing/ lost. I reported the matter to Telesure National Towing Department on 15 February 2019, who 2 days ago indicated that the matter was referred to whoever was managing the claim. In the meantime I called Ray Giese Body Shop and this is the response I got via email “As per attached letter from Budget dated 15 February 2019. You were advised that your claim for your vehicle accident repairs had been rejected and we the panel beaters are unable to accept any loss or damage to your vehicle as per your query”.

I may not be too legally informed but I don’t see the connection between my claim being rejected by the insurer and the body shop refusing to take responsibility for recklessly losing parts of my vehicle because my claim was rejected. The bottom line I believe the body shop was reckless and cannot simply shy away from the responsibility.
