Disappointing Rental Experience – Mould, Damp & Deposit Issues
Very disappointing experience with Rawson Properties I signed a 12-month lease and paid R15,100 upfront to move into the property. Within approximately two months, mould and dampness started appearing in the bedroom cupboards, walls and bathroom. There was also a serious ant infestation, including ants coming through the roof and into the light fittings falling onto my bed I raised these issues with the estate agent and expected the landlord/agent to address them properly. Unfortunately, the problems were not resolved to my satisfaction, and I eventually had to leave the property and stay elsewhere while waiting for the issues to be addressed. Despite the circumstances, I still gave the required two months’ notice before leaving. I am now also disputing the fact that my full deposit has not been returned because Rawson is relying on cancellation-related clauses in the lease. What makes this experience even more frustrating is that I initially asked the estate agent about a six-month lease and was told that I could not have the property on that basis. I subsequently entered into the 12-month lease, only to find myself dealing with serious property-condition issues shortly afterwards. I feel that the tenant is expected to carry the consequences of these issues, while the landlord/agent relies heavily on the clauses in the lease. In my view, the circumstances surrounding the condition of the property and the failure to properly resolve the problems should have been taken into consideration. I am currently pursuing the matter through the appropriate channels regarding my deposit and the issues surrounding the tenancy. They paid me R2900 of the deposit which is unreasonable, it's daylight *******, I can only imagine how many other individuals have been affected so negatively by Rawson Based on my experience, I would strongly advise prospective tenants to carefully inspect the property, document any defects from day one, keep all communication in writing, and fully understand the cancellation and deposit clauses before signing a lease with Rawson Properties.

What a Gem!!
Deriek has been managing my property in Petervale for 7 years now, and it has been a complete game-changer for me He sorts out absolutely everything, is 100% reliable, a complete gem! I could never have done it without him as I was out of the country for a lot of that time. I cannot recommend him highly enough, thank you Derieck and team!

I have am a Client of Derick Daniels from Rawsons Paulshof Renting Property in Sunninghill for going on 4 years. Being a Tenant of the same Property Maintenance has been excellent. Derrick Daniels has gone out of his way to help assist in any problem areas as gets everything sorted out. My unit looks the same as I walked in Nearly 4 years ago. Which is amazing. Thankyou
